Wizkid pleads with Nigerians to keep voting Fela to get inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Grammy award-winning Nigerian musician, Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun has appealed to Nigerians to rally round and make late Afrobeat pioneer, Feni Anikulapo-Kuti to get inducted into the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Fela Kuti was on February 10, 2021, announced as one of the nominees for this year’s induction into the Hall of Fame alongside Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Jay-Z, Chaka Khan, Carole King, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Todd Rundgren, Tina Turner and Dionne Warwick.

To be eligible, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

Fans vote for up to five nominees daily till the 30th of April on the Rock Halls website.

Announcement of the winners of the 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony which will take in Cleveland, Ohio will be inducted in May 2021.

If the ”Water No Get Enemy” hitmaker wins, he will make history as the first Nigerian artiste to make the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

In order to ensure Fela bags the historic win, Wizkid has taken to Twitter to ask Nigerians to vote for the musical icon.

He shared the voting link and wrote;
