Ojuelegba shaped me into who I am- Wizkid (video)

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun better known as Wizkid, Nigerian music star, has said that being born and bred in Ojuelegba, Lagos shaped him into the person he is today.

In a statement during a chat with Flutterwave CEO, Olugbenga Agboola, who asked about his music journey and how it all started.

Wizkid is a brand ambassador for Flutterwave, which is a financial tech company that offers payment solution services.

The Grammy-winner, who recounted his early days in the music industry while in Ojuelegba, said it was a rough place to grow as a child.

According to the Starboy Entertainment CEO, he had a dream of always making music and taking it from Lagos to the world.

He explained that he was in a situation where he always had to prove himself to the people that matter in the industry.

Wiz said that he is just starting and now that they have been let in, there is no going back.

Meanwhile, Nigerian rapper, Olamide Adedeji, has revealed that his working relationship with Wizkid helped him in the early stages of his career.

The YBNL boss, made the statement during an interview on Apple Music Africa, as he reminisced on their cordial relationship.

Olamide said at the time he collaborated with Wizkid, he had left his record label, Coded Tunes, so it was Wiz and his former boss, Banky W, founder of EME that were supporting him.

According to the ‘Wo’ crooner, the collaboration gave him an edge and made things easier for him in the industry.

It may be recalled that Big Wiz and Baddo worked together on the song “Omo Toh Shan” when he just left Coded Tunes to stand alone.
