Will Smith, one of the greatest black actors of our time, is forced to resign from the Academy for smacking another (abusive) man in the face. What would it take for a white man to be forced to resign from the Academy? Murder? #racism

I’d rather Clarence Thomas resign over Will Smith!

Seeing Will Smith resign from the Academy makes further mockery of the lame excuses a lot of people gave for the slap

Will Smith has to resign but tons of actors who’ve done many times worse are welcomed with open arms and gift bags for +$50K a night luxury hotels and life coaching sessions

Since Will Smith resigned from the Academy, Clarence should resign from the Supreme Court, just saying.

Physical violence isn’t the only thing that should I be condemned. Violence in the form of ableist taunts and slurs should also be condemned. So with Will Smith resigning from The Academy, I hope to see Chris Rock resign for his “joke” about Jada Pinkett Smith’s Alopecia.

I’m against this decision. Will Smith has not allowed enough time to pass to mourn his own behavior. He’s not in his right state of mind presently. Not saying he shouldn’t resign ever, but it’s too soon. If he’s crumbling under pressure, he should seek help.
