2baba Biography and Education

Born in Jos, Nigeria, 2Baba is from the Idoma ethnic group in the southern part of Benue State, in central Nigeria. He attended Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue state.

After his Secondary School Education, he moved to Enugu state where he did his preliminary National Diploma course in Business Administration and Management at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

Through the course of his higher education, 2Baba was busy performing in shows and events in IMT and other regional schools such as the University of Nigeria and Enugu State University of Science & Technology. In IMT, 2Baba composed and sang jingles at the GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) in 1996. He got so engrossed and passionate with his music career that he decided to drop out of school to pursue his dream full time.

In 1996, he adopted the stage name “2Face” (Tuface). In 2016, he officially changed his name from Tuface to 2Baba.

2baba Plantashun Boiz

2Baba was the leader of the now defunct group called Plantashun Boiz. When he moved to Lagos, 2Baba found two other talented artists with whom he would begin his band.  With Blackface (Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo) and with musician Faze (Chibuzor Orji), he went on to form the trio band Plantashun Boiz.

Unfortunately, the unity of the band couldn’t stand the test of time, Plantashun Boiz disbanded in 2004. The trio released two successful albums Body and Soul (2000) and Sold Out (2003) under Nelson Brown’s label (Dove Records). After the breakup, the band came together to sing their final album together titled Plan B.

After the breakup, each member of the band sought to build a solo music career. 2Baba’s first hit album, titled Face 2 Face showcased him as a viable solo music artist. After this, he went on to release various other albums with hit tracks recognized both locally and internationally.
